I often complain about the Montana Standard. Their incompetent local reporting, their complete reliance on the AP and Lee Newspaper machine for State coverage, their piss poor copy editing. You know small things.
But their latest screw-up made me crack up with laughter.
This photo is from this morning’s newspaper. Because, apparently, the Congress doesn’t need to vote on things anymore for them to become law. Clearly, the Standard decided to scoop everyone by reporting news that hadn’t happened yet.
So, I guess, this is the Silver Bow County equivalent of “Dewey Defeats Truman.”

oops! Confusing a bit for those that only read the Standard I guess.

I see that the Standard ran the Kelleher pushing parliamentary government piece, just like the front page in the IR today. At lease part of the lock step continued, just a ’slight’ slip.
The Bozeman paper ran the same story. I think it was supposed to be a done deal. This is fascinating - I can’t imagine the pressure that will be brought to bear on the conservative Republicans and progressive Democrats who voted “no”.
I didn’t know that the Chronicle did it too. But I guess all these recent staffing cuts mean that the quality at that paper is dropping as well.
I found the headline particularly funny because I don’t usually see my paper until the afternoon, cause I live in the sticks, and post vote it was especially humorous.
