Lamnidae - Fast With Partisanship, Slow With Facts

Lamnidae Watch

Astroturf blogger Lamnidae has made a crusade of criticizing Republicans for daring to fill political roles. Of course, Big Sky Cairn has already taken her to task for her hypocrisy.

It’s ironic, though not unexpected, that on a day when the Great Falls Tribune reports (updated link) that Governor Schweitzer’s official staff is working to cover up his latests controversy using tax-payer funded government computers, she makes another false accusation about a Republican.

This isn’t just a mistake. It’s a willful act of deception. Here’s the quote she includes from a story that she doesn’t link to.

Bridger Pierce, GOP staff member and spokesman for U.S. Rep. Denny Rehberg, insisted Larson did vote to double taxes on cell phones during the 2007 Legislature.

Now, here’s the story she pulled that from and here’s the quote copy-pasted from the story.

However, Bridger Pierce, GOP staff member and past spokesman for U.S. Rep. Denny Rehberg, insisted that Larson did vote to double taxes on cell phones during the 2007 Legislature.

Notice the difference. I’ll give you a hint, it’s right before “member and” and “spokesman.” A little word that Lamnidae omitted is “past” which pretty much finishes off what little credibility she may have had left. Particularly telling is the fact that she didn’t link to the article she was quoting, obviously hoping that Montanans would just take her word for it.

Lamnidae, Montana deserves better. We’re not stupid. (Well, not all of us are stupid)

Update: It looks like this might not be Lamnidae telling an outright lie. The Gazette seems to have gotten it wrong in an earlier version and then corrected it. Either way, a little fact-checking would have been in order and an apology would be appropriate (although, I wouldn’t hold my breath).

Update Redux: Lamnidae and Cleveland both posted updates after someone pointed out their errors in the comments.  I suppose that’s as close as we can hope for publicly and erroneously disparaging a Republican.

What do you expect? The Martin Luther King School of Plagiarism only admits liberals, women, and minorities.

eeeh, I don’t know about that Checker. We had a plagiarist of our own not to long ago and he wasn’t a liberal, woman or minority… Poor research is an equal opportunity indulgence.

What makes you think Lamnidae is a woman? Just sexism? Not to be the woman here, but in a story about fact checking…

My quick decision to take the Gazette story at its word was likely due to the fact that Erik Iverson has been pulling exactly what I thought Pierce was doing for quite some time. Frankly, I’m not down with paying his salary to do partisan work.

Lam:
What exactly do you think Barret Kaiser and Jim Messina do on a daily basis? Non-partisan smoke blowing? when is the last time either of those two had anything good to say about a republican?

Jenny, as a conservative, I naturally hate women and therefore associate them with anything negative - original sin, bacteria etc. So it is a natural assumption that Lamnidae is a lady.

Also, I seem to remember “her” being referred to as “her” in comments before she decided to branch out on her own.

And if that doesn’t satisfy, -ae is a Latin suffix with feminine gender association.

I tried to access the GF Tribune article about the Wiki modifications, referenced in paragragh two, and was given an error message. I then went to the Tribunes web site and tried to access the story through there archives–no luck. Looks like that Sarah Elliott is really quick on the draw, and maybe the Tribune a little to compliant with her requests.

They moved the link. I’ll update the article.

A sad election year ploy…to distract voters. But the sad thing, for your boy Brown is this: I work with a couple of staunch republicans. After listening to Roy Boy in the debate they both said that they would hold their noses and vote Schwietzer. Why? They said that not only is Roy whiney, but mainly that he is unlikeable, and looks sleazy. So do what you must, but Roy can’t win this one.

Sorry…but it’s true.

Right…I am sure these staunch Republicans also support conservative ideas like single payer healthcare and banning fossil fuel production.

Ever staunch Republican I know, knows Schweitzer cannot be trusted. He will say anything to get a vote or money.

And thus he will win. So sad, too bad.

Even if he wins - don’t expect his second term to be the barn-burner that his first term was. Second terms are almost always rough. He got away with a lot in the last four years and SchweitzerGate is just the first chink in his armor. You’re going to have to explain away his ego and bullying tactics for the next four years and he’s going to do some damage to the Dem’s brand.

If he wins.
