Rehberg Returns to Washington, DC

August 22nd, 2008 by Wiley Cody

This showed up in my inbox this afternoon - had to post it - mostly for Pogie.

You know, come to think of it, whatever did happen to that 5-day Congressional work week Pelosi promised? Somehow cutting all federal employees down to the 4-day work weeks they’ve been pullings seems like a step in the wrong direction.

I guess that’s one way to deal with the AWOL Federal Employees problem.

So, he went for another day for another “symbolic” gesture, to speak at a sparsely attended press conference where the lead speaker tries to reinvent the China-Cuba oil deal nonsense?

Wow…that is impressive.

I bet his buddies will love to hear the story of his heroic flight across the country. Especially next week, when your vacationing Congressman will be telling them all about it on the golf course.

By the way, what did Max Baucus and Jon Tester do today? Oh, that’s right–they were meeting with Air Force officials in Great Falls to try to help Malmstrom Air Force base.

Democrats? Working for Montana. Rehberg? Working on PR stunts.

Nice try.

Hey now Pogie, don’t you go steering around the real issue here, and that’s all the awesome things Denny’s doing on Energy.

Voting for the Iraq war: the best thing for crude oil price specualtors since the Yom Kippur war

Being in-bed with industry: voting to supress prices and subsidize international oil companies by supporting a foreign policy that will put troops down on their behalf

Wearing a bad-ass mustache: that Burt Reynolds mustache has been making Montanans take out small loans on used firebirds to drive them fast across montana for years, thanks to Denny Rehberg.

You know rumor is Judy Martz got to ride that mustache a time or two. Tell you what.

Who’s in bed with “Big Oil”, Red?

“Through June, Exxon employees have given Obama $42,100 to McCain’s $35,166. Chevron favors Obama $35,157 to $28,500, and Obama edges out McCain with BP $16,046 vs. $11,500.”

H/T: Opensecrets.

Man, this is all so trivial that I could just take a nap right now…. wait a minute. I think that’s exactly what I’ll do! Thanks for the motivation, guys.

Swede, if you are going to lift those stats from the Open Secrets site, you should at least tell the truth. From the same story you took those numbers from:

Comparing Obama’s and McCain’s financial ties to the oil industry, there’s no question that McCain has benefited more from the industry’s contributions, just as his Republican Party has for years and years. But Obama’s edge with the oil producers Americans know best — and might be cursing most these days — makes it harder for him to continue to tar McCain as the industry’s darling. Still, this chart shows vividly how the industry’s support for McCain’s candidacy has surged in the last few months. It’s been pointed out that giving shot up after the presumptive Republican nominee announced his support for offshore drilling, but you’ll see that the trend started months before that.

Nice try.

So I guess what your saying Pog, is that Big Oil can buy your candidates, as long as it’s less than the other side.

Yeah, that’s it.

Good God, you’re dense.
