Seriously, props to Jay Stevens for the national attention. It must be exhilarating to get that kind of recognition. I mean, to have Howard Dean - Mr. Montana himself - recognize the hard work of being a lefty blogger along with 49 other official state blogs (sucks to be in states 51-57 I guess) has got to be exciting. I’m sure Dean is a regular reader - you can tell from the way his statement doesn’t seem scripted at all. I wonder if it was the 49th or the 50th one he did that day.
I mean getting a shout out of national significance - from an important place like Washington, DC, the home of Senator Max Baucus, Mr. BMW himself, is a remarkable accomplishment, so well done.
Of course, to share in your celebration we’ll all forget that we know that national Democrat Leaders will say anything to dupe Montanans into supporting them.
I guess we’ll just have to settle for the insignificant opinions of actual Montanans like Congressman Denny Rehberg and Gubernatorial Candidate Roy Brown. Ooooh the sour grapes taste awful!
YEEEAAHH!!!

Good grief. That post just dripped with resentment. It was very uncomfortable reading.
Yeah, I thought it might come across like that. Truth is though, if I had to choose between being 1 in 50 from a national figure and exclusive in a politician that was relavent to the state - I’d go with the latter every time.
So yeah, maybe I’m jealous - but not of Left in the West! Hey Roy! Denny! Me too, me too!
One thing I’ve noticed in politics, and this is true of both sides, is an almost blind loyalty to partisans of our own stripe. Those of the opposite persuasion can do nothing right, those of our own are put on a pedestal. So it makes it hard to be critical and detached, but I suggest we try it.
I’ll start by offering you this: Roy Brown, who I went to school with, is a smart and accomplished man of unimpeachable character. He’s a formidable candidate. I hope that his character is widely known and respected by the end of the campaign, and that people vote against him because of differing goals for our economic well being. I don’t believe in trickle down, and this is the essence of his economic outlook.
So the question is, are the Republicans going to do the same thing? Will leadership invite bloggers from 50 states, and other places, to report on the Republican convention? (I think that would be a pretty democratic thing to do, don’t you?) And here’s the really big question, which Montana Republican blogger do you think will be picked?
I’ll probably get my VRWC credentials yanked for this comment, but I’ll say this to Pete: There probably won’t be any Republican bloggers invited from Montana (even if bloggers were on the list of folks to be invited). Reason #1 being you don’t find too many blindly partisan Republican blogs here, and #2 is that the GOP is waaaaay behind the curve, technologically speaking.
I could be wrong, but that’s my guess.
