Our very own senior Senator has decided to jump ahead of the American people and tackle healthcare before it becomes a crisis.
I almost wrote that with a straight face. Seriously, who does he think he is kidding with lines like this?
“I want the Finance Committee to be ready, to be ahead of the curve,” he said. “That’s why I’ve begun hearings, getting the facts out, pushing the edge of the envelope.”
Moving on, in other news, Max promised to spend all that hard earned money from California and New York on down ticket races this fall in Montana.
But Baucus’ written statement read to the crowd may have been the most important message for Montana Democratic candidates.
“Whether it’s man-hours or money, I’m going to make sure that Democrats are elected across the state,” Baucus said.
Baucus had $6.4 million in his campaign war chest at the end of March, the last funding period reported.
This fall just remember only 91% of the Montana Democratic Party will owe allegiance to out of state interests.

“pushing the edge of the envelope”? How about grabbing the plump rounded evelopes with the CA return addresses.
That $9 million in out of state cash won’t raise itself, which might explain why Max could not bother returning home to Montana to deliver his message.
Please … the presumption here is that out-of-state money is corrupt, while in-state money is not. That’s nonsense. It’s all legal bribery, and Montana contributors are as self-interested and corrupt as anyone.
Problem is, there are not enough money people in Montana to finance a statewide media campaign. All of our people have to leave the state to raise the money they need.
Public financing of campaigns would address all of these problems, and would result in far less corruption, legal and otherwise.
Mark, no where in that post does it infer out of state money is corrupt and in state donations are clean, if you will. What I posted is that a majority Max’s contributors, by an unprecedented margin, are not Montanans. What Max and his donors are attempting to do is carpetbagging by proxy.
I strongly disagree that a state legislator needs to raise out of state dollars. As for statewide media, Eastern and Central Montana are the cheapest media market in the country. Which I suppose is part of the allure for Max’s California backers.
